Career Counselling Intern

Location: Kolkata

Type: Full-time, Internship

Stipend: Rs.8,000 - Rs.12,000/month

Overview:

This internship is ideal for enthusiastic individuals pursuing or holding a BSc or BBA degree, especially those who possess excellent communication abilities and a creative flair for design. As a Career Counselling Intern, you’ll actively contribute to empowering youth through structured career guidance, impactful outreach, and thoughtfully designed learning resources.

Key Responsibilities:

Career Guidance Support

• Assist in one-on-one and group counselling sessions for students from underserved backgrounds.
• Use psychometric principles and interpersonal insights to help beneficiaries identify suitable academic or career paths.
• Explain various career options using clear, empathetic communication and visually appealing tools (e.g., career maps, flowcharts).

Research & Resource Design

• Research trends in job markets, vocational training, and educational pathways.
• Co-create engaging, design-rich resources like:
• Infographics summarizing career options
• Slide decks for workshops
• Interactive worksheets

Workshop and Event Support

• Assist in the planning, logistics, and facilitation of workshops.
• Use design skills to create banners, invitations, and presentation backdrops for events.
• Participate in sessions, encouraging interaction and ensuring clarity in communication.

Student Engagement

• Build trust and maintain follow-up communications with students.
• Track progress, gather feedback, and help refine services for future cohorts.

Admin and Operations

• Manage counselling schedules, maintain attendance logs, and compile feedback forms.
• Contribute to database upkeep with attention to detail and confidentiality.

Digital & Social Media (Optional but Preferred)

• Support in designing posts or short reels promoting the NGO’s counselling services.
• Contribute to awareness campaigns on platforms like Instagram and LinkedIn.

Outreach and Fieldwork

• Travel to schools or community centers to conduct basic needs assessments and career interest surveys.
• Represent the NGO at events, engaging both students and educators.

Reporting and Insights

• Compile clear, visually supported weekly/monthly reports.
• Share insights on program effectiveness, with suggestions for visual and content improvements.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

Educational Background: Pursuing or recently completed BSc or BBA.

Skills:

• Strong verbal and written communication (English, Bengali/Hindi a plus)
• Proficient in MS PowerPoint, Canva, or similar design tools
• Passionate about education, social impact, and youth development
• Self-starter with an eye for detail and visual aesthetics
• Personal Traits: Empathetic, proactive, curious, and team-oriented.
